Term two courses are underway, and we have casual classes running throughout the week at all levels. The weather outside may have turned somewhat brisk, with snow falls on the alps, and the skies dark and gloomy, but our rooms are warm and there is nothing like an Iyengar Yoga practice to spark your internal fires and brighten your inner glow.
Keep the heat turned up throughout the week with a home practice.
We encourage our students to make some time at home to develop a personal practice. Choose a time when you won't be disturbed. Turn off your phone and allocate a set time, even if it is only 15 or 20 minutes to begin with. We have some information sheets at reception that you can follow. Please ask your teacher if you are uncertain with how to proceed.
A great workshop
What a wonderful weekend with Lulu Bull, Senior Iyengar Yoga Teacher from Blue Mountains Yoga Studio! A big Thank You to Lulu, for so generously sharing her expertise, passion, warmth, humour and love of yoga with us.
Thank you also to all of the students who attended and participated with such enthusiasm and focus. Your willingness to commit the time and energy to deepen your practice at such workshops provides the motivation for us to ensure that we continue to organise these awesome events in the future.
Lulu has been practising and teaching yoga in the Iyengar tradition for 25 years. She co-founded the Newtown Yoga Room and The Blue Mountains Yoga Studio, where she currently teaches and runs a teacher trainee programme. Lulu practised right through the pregnancies of both her daughters. She visits Pune regularly to work with the Iyengar family and currently holds a Senior Intermediate Level One certificate. Lulu remains passionate about the practice and the understandings and insights it brings to her daily life.
Farewell and welcome
After eight years Juanita Brokas, our teacher and more recently manager
as well, has moved to live in beautiful Tasmania, south of
Hobart. In all the sadness of saying goodbye to a dedicated teacher and a
good friend and co-worker, we wish Juanita all the best in her new
endeavours: teaching yoga, shiatsu, growing vegies and running after the chickens. And we welcome two new teachers to Yarraville Yoga Centre: Paul Purchase and Lynn Holt. Both come with teaching experience from around Melbourne and we are excited to add their experience and insight to the west!
